During Difficult Times
Making Arrangements at the Time of Death
The emotional strain of dealing with the loss of a loved is compounded when you are also planning funeral services that will honor the person who has passed. It is an emotionally and logistically confusing time, but our funeral directors and staff will compassionately guide you through every step and ease the burden as much as possible.
In each of the following scenarios, we assume care of your loved one and are responsible for transportation and preparation as soon as we get your call.
Death Outside a Medical Facility
Call 911 to notify your local police.
After you have called the first responders, call the funeral home. John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc.’s direct line is 412-881-4100. We are available to answer your call and assist you 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
We will ask you for the following information:

- Location of the deceased
- Name of person who is calling and phone number
- Name of the primary care physician or other doctor and whether or not they have been notified
