Obituary For Alice Marie (McDonough) Koeppl

Age 87, of Brentwood, died peacefully on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at home surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Walter Koeppl. She leaves behind her children, Sandra Barsotti, Kerry (Rick) Huffman, Kristy (Jason) Szpara and Kevin Koeppl. She was the loving grandmother of 8 grandchildren, Molly, Greyson, Ryan, Austin, Korey, Kristopher, Kraig, Kurt, and 2 great-grandchildren, Rocco and Lucianna. Alice will be dearly missed by her many nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.
Growing up the youngest of 4 and the only girl in an Irish Catholic family, Alice learned how to be a strong, independent woman. At the young age of 21 she would be swept off her feet by the smooth-dancing, handsome love of her life, Walter. She was the heart of her family and dedicated her life to creating a warm, nurturing home where there was always a home-cooked meal on the table. She was passionate and strong-minded in her beliefs but could be witty and funny when least expected. She loved sitting on her porch just watching the world go by, hitting the casino with her daughters and niece, or watching every Hallmark movie ever
made ... TWICE. She loved sending a card for every occasion and she was a dedicated friend to those who were lucky enough to call her friend. To her daughters she was a hero and everything they will spend the rest of their lives striving to be. In the end, she fought a battle she couldn't win with strength and determination and at times, with a touch of humor. Alice asked that you not send flowers, but instead send a donation to your favorite charity or use the money to simply take a friend to lunch. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral prayer on Thursday morning at 9:45. Mass of Christian Burial in Blessed Trinity Parish, St. Sylvester Church at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be held privately.

Alice was one of the first parents I met when I was a brand new teacher at Elroy School . As was her way, she immediately made me feel wanted and welcome. Over the many years since then, she was always gracious and loving. Although she was not much older than I am, I considered her an example to follow as a woman and mother. May she rest in peace and love. Peg Romestan

Our family has such fond and fun memories of your Mom. She was an absolutely awesome friend to my mom (Carol Kramer) I remember them laughing at "club". Your mom was always there when needed even after many years of our Mom having dementia. She always remembered her birthday with a funny card.
