Obituary For Alverna B. Lober

November 21, 1937 - December 14, 2018

Lober, Alverna B., O.F.S. Age 81, on Friday, December 14, 2018, of Pittsburgh.

Daughter of the late Adolph and Emma Lober; loving sister of Robert "Bob" Lober, Ralph Lober and the late George, Ruth, Emma and Edward; cherished aunt of 24 nieces and nephews and their families. After a lengthy career as a chemist for Allegheny County Health Department, Alverna continued a dedicated life-long mission of charity work for catholic organizations and was a devout member of the Secular Franciscan Order. She was a past member of St. John Vianney Parish and a current, active member of St. Mary of Mercy Church. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, Monday, December 17, 2018, 2 - 8 p.m. Funeral Prayer on Tuesday morning at 8:45. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary of Mercy Church at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Alverna requested donations be made to The Red Door Program at St. Mary of Mercy, 202 Stanwix St., Pittsburgh, PA 15222.

    Verna was a wonderful volunteer for many years when I was working for Mercy Parish Nurse and Health Ministry Problem. She will be missed not only for her contributions, but for her friendship to all of those that ever worked with the program.
