Arthur James Burgess, age 68, of Baldwin Borough passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 26, 2016. Born on June 15, 1948, he was the son of the late William Burgess and Evelyn (Thomas) Burgess; devoted husband of 40 years to Barbara (Doyle) Burgess; beloved father of Jamie (Sean) Grubbs, Matthew (Krystal) Burgess and Lauren Burgess; grandfather of Karleigh, Emery, Mason and a fourth grandchild due in November; brother of Margaret (Burgess) Langenbacher and Deborah (Burgess) Kahn; brother-in-law of Thomas (Linda) Doyle, Dennis (Linda) Doyle, John (Janet) Doyle, Lawrence (Laura) Doyle and Joseph (Lisa) Doyle. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

A man who loved working on cars, Art was a trusted and talented mechanic before joining the Port Authority of Allegheny County as a bus operator (#8486). He spent 25 years as a much-loved driver by the "regulars" on his routes and a respected coworker by his fellow peers at the West Mifflin garage. Outside of work, Art was a handyman around the house who usually found a way to fix whatever was broken. He loved being outside and could usually be found golfing, putzing in the yard, washing the cars, or sipping on some Jack and Coke while sitting in front of a fire. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family?¦"Bud" to Barbara, a fun dad and gentle Pappy. Art will be forever loved and missed. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100 on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral prayer on Thursday morning at 8:30. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joan of Arc Church, 6470 Library Road, South Park at 9:30 a.m. Interment at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies on Friday, July 1 at 10:30 a.m..
