Age 43, unexpectedly on Sunday, August 31, 2025, of Brentwood.
Loving wife of Kevin P. Flaherty, Jr.; beloved daughter of Wendy Harmon (Brian Moran); cherished sister of Ryan P. (Jessica) Kearney; granddaughter of Dennis and Gayle Harmon and the late Hank and Audrey Kearney; proud adoring aunt of Wylee and Bodhi Kearney and Tegan and Tre Hall; daughter-in-law of Kevin Sr. and Caroline Flaherty; sister-in-law of Megan Flaherty. Ashley will be dearly missed by her dog, Brittanie. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
After graduating from Brentwood High School in 2000, Ashley earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Duquesne University and joined the sorority, Alpha Phi. She met the love of her life, Kevin, while working at the Hays Moose Lodge 1436. Ashley was the queen of Halloween, with Kevin as her king, joining her in creative costumes year after year and eventually expanding this tradition to their nephews and Pomeranians. Ashley had a deep love for animals, a growing interest in golf and endless enthusiasm for traveling. Whether it was a cruise, a ski trip or a beach vacation, she enjoyed experiencing the world in any capacity. Her friends and family will remember Ashley for her ability to turn any moment into a celebration, her generosity, her twirl of a fire baton, and most of all, how strongly she loved.
Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Monday, September 8, 2025 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral prayer on Tuesday morning at 9:30. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Catherine Labouré Parish, St. Louise de Marillac Church at 10:30 a.m.

Ashley was one my best friends in the world. I wasn't able to give one of my closest friends one last goodbye bc I was in the hospital. My heart is absolutely broken. She was one of the most beautiful people both inside & out I will miss her dearly! She would do anything for anyone she loved. This life and this world will not be the same without her here. Ashley worked her butt off to get into Duquesne she really did! She was not a quitter and she will always remain to be one of the most loyal and lovable friend that I've ever had. Watch over me chica I'll love ❤️ you forever and I'll see you when I get there +++ 🪽 bc this life won't be the same without your beautiful heart and face. Ashley was my summer babysitter and her mom is a family friend. She was so awesome. She used to take us everywhere. The Brentwood Park, the pool, and the library. Other babysitters would just sleep. I entered high school in 2001, but Ashley really inspired me to join the band front. She taught me how to twirl a baton, and all of Brentwood's half-time show dance moves. She was always smiling and laughing. She will be immensely missed by her friends and family. My heart is with her family in this time of grief. ~Dana (Kunkel) Schwarz

Ashley is one of the kindest, most thoughtful, sweetest, loving, and most understanding people I've ever met. She was a loyal and true friend to my son Zach and his wife April. She will be so missed by the many who loved her.

I worked with Ashley at Pitt a lifetime ago. She and I spent many lunchtimes and nail appointments together while bemoaning our jobs. She was such a bright soul and everyone felt special in her presence. I am so sorry for your loss and I wish you peace and strength as you navigate the coming days.

I haven't seen ashley in a long time, since she was a child, when I met her through her father Pat Kearney. What I remember were beautiful eyes and a smile that could light up a room. May Ashley rest in comfort with all relations that came before, and yet to show.

Kevin, Tom and I are so saddened and shocked by this news. I'll always remember Ashley for her friendliness and that she attended every event she was invited to. You could count on Ashley to be a smiling and joyful presence every time you saw her. Tom and I talked about your visit to us in Ft. Lauderdale, a good time had by all all as it always was with her. I'm terribly sorry that we will not be at the viewing and funeral to say our goodbye's and to give you our love and support in person. We'll be thinking of you and praying for you in this terribly difficult time.
