Obituary For Carmela T. Grecco

November 5, 1926 - November 4, 2017

Grecco, Carmela T. "Carm" (Pizzuto)

Passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 4, 2017, one day shy of her 91st birthday. She was born in the Friendship/Bloomfield area of Pittsburgh, lived in Baldwin Borough for 50 years, then moved to Sarasota, FL in 2005. Devoted and beloved wife of 55 years to the late Ernie Grecco; loving mother of Patti (Peter) Bonagiano, David (Christy) Grecco, and the late Ernie, Jr., Barbara and Theresa; "Nunny" to grandson, Dante; grandma to Gehan (Joe) Fazio; great grandma to Rosie, Mo, Jenna, Nolan and Landon; proud sister of the late Anthony Pizzuto; sister-in-law of Carol Pizzuto. Carm graduated from Sacred Heart H. S. in 1944 and Seton Hill College in Greensburg, PA in 1948. Carm's unwavering Faith and selflessness sustained her and Ernie to tirelessly and lovingly care for their three seriously ill children while nourishing their other two. She also was a ten year breast cancer survivor. Despite these hardships, Carm enjoyed cooking for and visiting with family and friends and was a long-time member of TOPS Club in Pittsburgh and Sarasota. We celebrate Carm's inspirational life and admire her courage and strength. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, 412-881-4100, 420 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, on Sunday, November 12, from 2-6 p.m. Funeral Prayer on Monday morning at 9:15. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Carm's family suggests donations to Tidewell Hospice, Philanthropy Dept., 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.
