Jamison, Jr., Charles Donald

C. Donald Jamison, Jr. age 91, of Mt. Lebanon, formerly of Whitehall Borough, passed away April 30, 2018. Don was born Sept. 27, 1926 in Bradford, PA to the late Helen G. and C. Donald Jamison, Sr., and graduated from Ridgewood H.S. in Radburn NJ. He attended Rutgers University for one year before transferring to The Pennsylvania State University, and graduated in 1948 with a degree in ceramic engineering. He had a long professional career working in the steel,iron and coke industry with Koppers Co., Harbison-Walker Refractories, and Dresser Industries, retiring in 1991. Don was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, K. Jane Krantz Jamison, and a son, Daniel "Stuart" Jamison. Survivors include a daughter, Karen J. (John) Lum, Mercersburg, PA, a son, Douglas (Tara) Jamison of Richmond, IN, four grand-daughters, Carrie Wilson, Richmond, VA, Katie Lum, Lynchburg, VA, Lindsay (Brandon) Brookbank and Kelly (Phil) Hassman, both of Indianapolis, IN, and a grandson, Ryan J. Lum of Morristown, NJ. The Jamisons were active members of Baldwin Community United Methodist Church for many years. Don volunteered with Junior Achievement, was the founding treasurer of Boy Scout Troop 336, and coached baseball in the South Whitehall Athletic Assoc. Don enjoyed bowling, traveling, crosswords, and following Penn State Sports, the Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins. Most of all, Don will be remembered for his quest for knowledge and recall of facts, and for the love he showed his family, especially his five grandchildren. It should also be noted that Don loved his Mt. Lebanon Brookdale family and will be missed. There will be no viewing. A private service will be held at the convenience of his family. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Don's name to Baldwin Community United Methodist Church, 5001 Baptist Rd., Pgh. PA 15236 or to Penn State University on behalf of undergraduate student scholarships in The College of Earth and Mineral Sciences, One Old Main, University Park, PA 16802.
