Chris sat close to my cube at BNYMellon. Chris was a man of few words; however, when he spoke, his few words were golden. His work ethics, smile, sense of humor always impressed me. Since he was younger than me I always thought of his parents and admired their parenting . Pradeep M.

I did not work directly with Chris, but in an adjacent function so I was fortunate to come into contact with him regularly, and was always struck by the fact that no matter how busy he was, or how late he was working, he always had a smile and a 'Hi' and asked how you were doing. His friendliness and uplifting smile will stay with me always. My deepest sympathies to his family and friends.

I had the privilege of meeting Chris when I joined his Team at BNY Mellon about a year ago. When I first started, I had many questions, and always felt bad brothering Chris because I knew how busy he was. However, every time I approached Chris to ask him a question or for his help with a particular problem, he would drop what he was working on to help. He always put the needs of others in front of his own, which is a testament to his character and just shows the type of person he was. He was one of the smartest and well-rounded individuals I have ever met. Wise and mature beyond his years and just an all-around great person. Chris and I shared what I always felt was a special connection, we both had a passion for fishing. Chris loved fishing with every ounce of his soul; it was a part of him. It didn't matter if he was trolling for pelagic gamefish offshore in the Gulf Stream, fly fishing for steelhead in the tributaries of the Great Lakes or throwing top waters for bass on a farm pond, he was just happy to be out on the water doing what he loved. One of my favorite fishing sayings reminds us, "You Only Get One Life, Fish It Well" and I take solace knowing that Chris did. Fair Winds & Following Seas my Friend.

Chris was one of those individuals that you are drawn to and admire, no matter who you are. He was very intelligent and did not hesitate to help others no matter the time and place. He was very genuine and was always interested in others and the things they enjoyed and cared about in life. I know that any time I made a pizza I was sure to get the stamp of approval from Mr. Freas. The world lost a great soul, but I know you are still with us. My condolences to the entire Freas family. Until we meet again, my friend...

I didn't know Christopher but knew of him through my family. Based on everything I know and have read above he was truly a 'Clemson gentleman'. He will be remembered and celebrated this year 'Where the Blue Ridge yawns its greatness'. Sunrise and sunset over Lake Hartwell will remember and celebrate Christopher.

Tomorrow will be a different kind of Friday for me because he always reminded me to tell my Friday joke. This world will not be the same without you Chris. May you rest in peace and look after us.

The last time I saw you all was at Uncle George's birthday party. I remember thinking how much the Freas family cousins enjoyed each other and were so happy to be together. I still have the picture when all the cousins lined up in birth date order. There were big smiles all around. There are no words for such an unimaginable loss. Sending you all lots of love and keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.

As the comments from our BNYM colleagues have indicated, Chris was not only an outstanding contributor but also a pleasure to work beside. While sharing the same 1st name, we also shared our love for college football, golf, and our ability to converse entirely using the jargon and accent of our fellow native Pittsburghers. In this time of sadness, I cannot express words that will bring comfort and peace to those that love him. I do hope that you will take solace in the enduring effect he had on and the lasting memories that he provided to those that knew him.

Dear Freas family, Words cannot express how deeply sorry I am for your loss. I had the pleasure of working with Chris for the past 5 years and as I'm sure you've heard from everyone who knew Chris, he was one of the kindest and most intelligent people I've met. Chris and I were roughly the same age, but I looked up to him - the way he treated others and carried himself was beyond impressive. I know that words cannot take away the hurt that you are feeling, but I hope that the good memories of Chris will help ease some of the pain. You will be in my thoughts and prayers and I will never forget the good memories shared with Chris. My deepest condolences, Dylan Ban

Chris had a kind heart and was a shining star for Regulatory Reporting. I will miss the many conversations we would have together regarding Kiawah Island, SC. He would talk about the many golf and fishing trips he took with his family. I will also miss him filling up the "bird" with spare change when he was having a rough day as his contributions would essentially fund a lot of our trips to Brueggers for bagels. My heart goes out to his friends and family. He will forever be in my memories.

Chris will be deeply missed by his BNYM Family; he had a smile for everyone he came into contact with. I always appreciated how he took an interest in my travels and always looked forward to trading trip recommendations with him. One memory that will always stand out is the Monday after the Pittsburgh Half Marathon of 2019, he told me he had seen me running in the race. He said: "I know there was no way you would have heard me or seen me, but I was cheering for you!". I will always remember that story as an example of his incredible kindness. - Emily Henricks
