Obituary For David E. Hughes

August 30, 1927 - May 20, 2016

Hughes, David E. Age 88, on Friday, May 20, 2016, of Whitehall.

Husband of the late Virginia "Ginny" M. Hughes; brother of the late William H. (Elinore), George, Mary Mann, Edna Codori, Thomas J. Hughes and Elma Robson; also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Dave served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a member of F & AM Bethel Park Lodge 761 and a member of the Shriners Legion of Honor. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, Tuesday 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. with a Shriners Legion of Honor Service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc. If desired, family suggests contributions to Erie Shriners Hospital, 1645 West Eight Street, Erie, PA 16505.

    My friend Dave I've taken care of your lawn for 18 years, every Friday I looked forward to coming in and sitting with you although it would only be for a short while. I believe we both got something out of it my dear friend my Friday's will never be the same. I'm going to miss you!!! That's what I would say to dave if I had the chance. To his family I thought the world of Dave one the best loyal customer's that I have had the pleasure of working for and a friendship that will be missed deeply.
