Obituary For Dorothy Brenchak

May 31, 1930 - April 10, 2016

Brenchak, Dorothy (Davic) Switala Age 85, on Sunday, April 10, 2016, of Whitehall.

Beloved wife of 29 years to John W. Brenchak, and the late Gilbert B. Switala, Sr.; loving mother of Jayne (Ben) Miley, JoAnn (Rick) Bralich, Gail (Bill) Smith and Gilbert B. (Meg) Switala, Jr.; stepmother of Gina (Ed) Beck and John (Pat) Brenchak; loving Nana of Meghan, Jodi, Brian, Jamie, Kathy, Andi, Bob, Sarah, Laura, Dane, Mary, Mitch, David and Tommy; proud great-grandmother of seven and a half. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy was active in the Southwest PA Registered Nurse Club. She was a 1951 graduate of South Side Hospital Nursing School, where she worked her entire career until her retirement as Assistant Director in 1992. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, Wednesday, from 1-9 p.m. A Nurses' White Rose ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m. Funeral Prayer on Thursday morning at 9:00. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Sylvester Church at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to the Dorothy Switala Brenchak Nursing Scholarship Fund.
