November 30, 1922 - July 4, 2016

Hopkins, Dorothy Age 93, on Monday, July 4, 2016, of Hazelwood.

Wife of the late Eugene P. Hopkins; beloved mother of Margaret Louise "Peggy", George Eugene "Buz" Hopkins, Nancy Jean (the late Gary) Powell, Georgia Beatrice (the late Frank) Komperda, Eugene James, Charles Paul (Charla), Michael John (Rosie), Theresa Marie Hopkins and the late Susan Ann Hopkins; cherished grandmother of 16 and great-grandmother of 11; daughter of the late William and Eunice (Redding) Sweeney; sister of the late Marie Driver, Leo, Woody, George, Joe, Bill, Jimmy and Charlie Sweeney. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy was involved in the Hazelwood Initiative, YWCA, St. Stephen Parish and Community Block Watch and was formerly known as the Sunshine Lady. "Gone Dancing". Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Funeral Prayer on Friday morning at 9. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Stephen Church at 10 . If desired, family suggests contributions to St. Stephen Church, 1551 2nd Ave., Pgh., PA 15207.

    I have many happy memories of Aunt Dorothy, she was contagious; allways smiling, giving , caring and fun. I will cherish her memory, forever. To her children, I'm so sorry you have to let her go, but remember, she has family members waiting to greet her and start their Irish party all over in heaven.
