Obituary For Elizabeth B. Gauss

September 8, 1922 - June 8, 2017

Gauss, Elizabeth (Becker) Age 94, of Bethel Park, former long-time resident of Brentwood, passed peacefully on June 8, 2017.

Born on September 8, 1922 in Pittsburgh, PA, Elizabeth was a loving and devoted Mother. When she retired from the Brentwood Borough School District in 1988, she spent her days babysitting her eldest granddaughter and grandson, a move she has called the happiest time of her life, after making lifelong friends during her career. Elizabeth loved socializing, enjoyed music and dancing, had a wonderful sense of humor, and her bright smile could light up any room. She participated in many organizations, including St. Sylvester's and St. Valentine's Women's Guilds, Republican Women Organization, a Boy Scouts of America den mother, and the VFW Post 1810 Ladies Auxiliary over the course of her life. Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband, Edward (1969) and eldest son, Vincent (1964). Her devotion to her children and grandchildren David, Scott (Michelle) and their children Allison and Miranda, and Nanci and her children Ashley and Alexander was distinctive. She is survived by her sister, Sr. Anne Marie Becker of Memphis, and many lifelong friends. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, Sunday from 2-7 p.m. Funeral Prayer on Monday morning at 9:15. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Valentine Church at 10:00 am.
