Obituary For Elizabeth "Betty" S. Nobs

January 20, 1924 - July 26, 2016

Nobs, Elizabeth "Betty" S. Age 92, of Whitehall, on Tuesday, July 26, 2016.

Wife of Richard L. Nobs; mother of Barbara (David) Fratta and David (Mary Beth) Nobs; grandmother of Valerie (Jared) Brown and Nicholas Nobs; great-grandmother of Sydney and Lane Brown; daughter of Duncan Simpson and Elizabeth Bell Simpson; preceded in death by her mother and father and her granddaughter Jennifer Fratta. Born January 20, 1924 in Glasgow, Scotland, she lived most of her life in Carrick, Brentwood, and Whitehall. She passed away peacefully this past Tuesday at sunrise. She was a loving, devoted wife to her husband, Dick, for 68 years and dedicated her life to taking care of her father, her two children, and three grandchildren. She was a devoted Christian, teaching Sunday school for many years at Stewart Avenue Lutheran Church, and also served as the church secretary. In addition, she dedicated her time and energy to Meals on Wheels and the Eastern Star. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. There is a special place in heaven for this sweet, warm, kindhearted woman who gave so much to so many. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of her funeral service at noon.

    Sue called me today and told me about Aunt Betty's passing. I am so sorry for your loss. I will always remember the kindness she showed me at our many visits to your home when I was a teenager. She patiently would explain how dinner was made and provided tips & hints about cooking. I can remember how excited she was to show us the new waterbed you had bought! Her smile always made me feel better! Uncle Rich I send you my deepest condolences.
