March 3, 1921 - January 9, 2015

Sammel, Erma B.

On Friday, January 9, 2015, Erma age 93, died peacefully with her family at her side. Beloved wife of the late Harry E. Sammel; loving mother of Jeffrey (Carol) Sammel; grandmother of Allyson (Kevin) Sweeney and Ryan (Julie) Sammel; great-grandmother of Rachel, Megan, and Isaac Sweeney; sister of Helen Koett, her life-long companion. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Sunday from 2-7 pm. Funeral Prayer on Monday morning at 8:45 am . Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anne Church at 9:30. Erma was a long time resident of Castle Shannon and loved crocheting, knitting, and reading. Also survived by daughter Claire and four grandchildren. If desired, memorial contributions can be made to Castle Shannon Library, 3677 Myrtle Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15234.

    Jeff, Carol, and family, We are very sorry to hear the passing of Erma. She was like our second grandma, always so loving and bright and fun to be around. We will miss her dearly, and you are all in our thoughts and prayers. So sorry to miss the mass today. Love, Randy, Missy, and family
