Obituary For Ethel Helen (Buchleitner) Dean

Age 91, of Bethel Park, PA, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, November19, 2025. Born in Duquesne, PA, on May 4, 1934, she was the daughter of the late William Joseph and Elizabeth Marie (Kremmel) Buchleitner. Beloved wife of 42 years to the late Edmund Dean, who preceded her in death on February 9, 2009. Loving mother of Karen (Smith) Albert, Mark (Janae) Smith, Robert William Dean, and Suzanne Dean (Robert) Gundermann. Proud grandmother of Cristin Albert, Alexander Smith, Sara Gundermann (Nicholas) Reeves, Dean Gundermann, and Emma Smith. Ethel was the youngest of nine children and the cherished sister of the late Bertha (Buchleitner) Schmidt, Rita Buchleitner, Elizabeth (Buchleitner) Kampert, Irene (Buchleitner) Graham Schmidt, Marie (Buchleitner) Morgan, William Buchleitner, Robert Buchleitner, and Richard Buchleitner. As matriarch of the family, Ethel was known for her kind heart, fun-loving spirit, and sweet nature. A devoted homemaker, she also worked at the family business, Motorcar Parts, Inc. In her younger years, she enjoyed family reunions at Crooked Creek, camping, bowling, boating, photography and travel. Forever a football fan, she loved cheering on her Steelers, Pitt and Penn State teams. More recently, she loved playing cards and was an avid 500 Bid player. Family and friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Rd., Brentwood, 15227, on Monday, November 24, 2025, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., where a Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 25, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in memory of Ethel Helen Dean to the American Lung Association, 810 River Ave., Suite 140, Pittsburgh, PA 15212, or atwww.lung.org/pa.
