Bohna, Eugene Paul, age 86, of Castle Shannon, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, March 26, 2020.
Beloved husband for 59 years to Elsie Luko Bohna; loving father, protector, and guidance to Jeannie Bohna (Brian) Cassidy, Kimberly Bohna (Timothy) Finocchi, Denise Bohna (Wade) Killen and Joanne Bohna Dami; best Pap-Pap to Brian Jr., Bradley, and Brett Cassidy, Alyssa and Dylan Finocchi and Keegan, Ryan, and Shane Killen; survived by his sisters Rose (Kenneth) Porter and Delores Babich as well as many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. His career of 36 years was spent in the elevator industry after proudly serving in the United Stated Army. Eugene loved offering guidance to his eight grandchildren, cheering on his Steelers, spending his winters in Florida and volunteering at Thursday night bingo at St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Virgin Church where he was a devout member. But mostly he loved his beautiful wife and four girls. In the famous words of Eugene, fingers pointing, 'ain't no way'! No one will ever forget how you lit up a room when you entered, how your stories brought laughter and smiles to all and how whoever met you could never forget you. Dearest Eugene/Dad/Pap, you lived your life deeply loved, you will spend your eternity loved deeply. A celebration of Eugene's life will be announced and held at a later time. Arrangements entrusted to the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227.

Dear Pap, words cannot express the sadness our families are feeling. I will miss the countless hours we spent talking on your porch in Pittsburgh, my porch in South Florida and the many campgrounds over the years. Thanks for all your "guidance" whether I needed or not, we had sooo many laughs and I guess a few toddies too. The memories are endless! With these unprecedented times it is heart wrenching to witness what the Bohna family must endure to honor their father. At a time when the family should be grieving, Pap's four beautiful daughters and their mom are busy selecting readings, songs, making their own flower arrangements and working with a life long friend Father Dave Bonnar to face-time a blessing remotely, this is everything the church and the funeral home would normally provide. As sad as it is, it is the most beautiful showing of love and respect a father and a husband could ever dream of receiving. They are simply amazing! Pap, we look forward to a memorial mass and a Military Honors funeral that you so deserve and to celebrate the life of a GREAT MAN with your family and many friends. It is truly an honor to be part of the Bohna family, thank you for being a great father, grandfather, father in-law and best friend. Forever in my heart and on my porch!

Living behind Mr. Bohna for 30 years (and cutting through his yard daily), I got to see his Steelers signs in the front yard and him blasting his polkas on a warm summer day. Thank you for the wonderful lessons of being yourself, being kind, doing what you love to do, and loving your family with all your heart. I'll miss not seeing you out back.
