Obituary For Fred Richard Nau, Sr.

Age 84, passed into eternal life on Monday, November 10, 2025.

Beloved husband of 58 years to Mary Ann Nau; loving father of Fred (Kelly) Nau, Jr., Jennifer Wilhelm, Joshua (Angel) Nau and Jeremy (Stephanie) Nau; amazing Pap to Victoria, Tobias, Maxwell, Clayton, Brooklyn, Breanna, Brooke, Joshua, Jacob, Nickolas, Lia, Ian and Ella; beloved brother to Anice Bukoskey, Deborah Funk and the late Carol Lersch and Leo Nau.

Fred was a very proud veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam as helicopter crew chief. He was an avid gardener, fisherman and hunter who dedicated his life to his family. He enjoyed decades of camping adventures with his children instilling in them a great love of nature and the outdoors. He loved his family beach vacations and his children and grandchildren so much. As a native Pittsburgher, he really enjoyed the sports, especially the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Fred was a devout man of faith who loved God, lived the Gospel and served the Lord by his life.

Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Sunday, November 16, 2025 from 3-7 p.m. Funeral prayer on Monday, November 17, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Resurrection Parish, St. John Capistran Church at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
