McDonough, George R., age 78, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 of Pleasant Hills, formerly of Carrick. Beloved husband of Noreen (Kelly) for 51 years; loving father of Kathy (Wes) Heisley, George M. (Melissa) McDonough, Pati (Chad) Rockwell and Bill (Marie) McDonough; grandpap of Sam, Chuck, Ben, Noah and Michael. George was a loving husband, father, grandfather and protector of all under his wing span. George spent his life in Pittsburgh, he vacationed in CO, CA, and FL. He enjoyed spending time with his family at Chambers Dam in Washington, PA where he tended his garden and home. George retired as Captain on the Pittsburgh Fire Department in the year 2000. George will be sorely missed. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral prayer on Saturday morning at 9:15. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Thomas A'Becket Church at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to www.alz.org.
