April 29, 1925 - February 12, 2018 Schultz, Helen Jacqueline "Jackie" Passed away, surrounded by her loving family, on February 12, 2018 at Concordia Personal Care in Mt.Lebanon. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Whitney; son, Dr. Gary Schultz; her two loving daughters-in-law, Joanne Schultz Ferguson (Mike) and Suzan Schultz; as well as her grandchildren, Emily Whitney (Sean Mullen), Melanie Schultz, Heather Schultz, Brian Schultz (Jessica) and Farrell Wagner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Boyd Schultz; her son, Jeffrey Schultz and son-in-law, David Whitney. Jackie was born April 29, 1925, one of seven children, and grew up in Fourmile, Kentucky. She and Boyd met in Oak Ridge, TN while Boyd was in the Army working on the Manhattan Project. Boyd's job as a nuclear chemist at Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory brought them to Pittsburgh, where they raised their children in Whitehall. Jackie worked at Horne's Department Store in the Brentwood-Whitehall Shopping Center and later worked in the business office at Pitt Dental School. Jackie possessed a quick wit with a great sense of humor and could make us laugh right up to the end. She was also very industrious, building or re-purposing furniture, and making intricate wire beaded jewelry. Later in life, Jackie loved to go on cruises with her husband and, after his death, was very fortunate to continue cruising to exotic locations; her last two were around the world, and she celebrated turning 91 while cruising back to port from Portugal. She especially loved to dance in her fancy clothes and lovely jewelry. Her family would like to thank the caregivers at Concordia Personal Care during Jackie's last months. As per her wishes, there will be no visitaion and a memorial service will be held privately. Arrangements handled by John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., (412) 881-4100. If desired, the family suggests donations to The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, 1 North Linden Street, Duquesne, PA 15110.
