Roof, Irene Carrie (Kisling) Age 85, of Pittsburgh, PA, went to be with the Lord on February 16, 2015.

She was born on August 23, 1929 in Penn Laird, VA, a daughter of the late Homer and Margaret Kisling. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, John "Jack" Roof, and her children, Jack Roof, Jr. (Christine), Peggy Roof, Dane Roof and Diane (John) Lipscak; two grandchildren, Jennifer Roof and John Lipscak; one sister, Virginia (Ed) Klimko, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister. Irene was a true servant of God. She was a caring, kind, and giving woman who loved and was loved by all. She will be deeply missed, especially by her family who were the light of her life. A quote she was fond of now seems like a fitting tribute. "I fared well." Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Light of Life Mission, 915 Western Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15233.
