Iris and Carmen both taught me many things that I never learned from my own family. Carmen taught me that how to golf when I did not even know how to hold a club. He also taught me hard work was the essence of a man and his character could never be up for sale. Iris taught me how to cook many things and showed me that even when you hate certain foods, when they are mixed with other foods, they are actually quite delicious. When I read that Iris went home to heaven late last evening. I went in and made the dip that she taught me to make. I have made it no less than a few hundred times since 1978 and every single time I made it, I thought of Iris. Iris also taught me that my word meant something of great value and not to say things I did not mean, when I did back in high school, she never hesitated to call me out on it. I did not know it then but I learned once I got into my 20's that Iris and Carmen taught me more about being a man than I learned from anyone else. I was blessed to be around the Marino family for four years, I wish I could turn back time and tell them both what they truly meant to me. A piece of my heart will forever belong to Iris, Carmen, Judy, and Jen. Not to leave out Bobby as he and I were great friends the four years I was around, I wish I had his brain. Judy, Jen, and Bobby, I share my deepest condolences and warmest thoughts to you three and your families. Heaven just got a little sweeter.
