Obituary For Jack Calvin Reeves

Age 99, born March 27, 1925, in Philadelphia, PA. Son of the late Raymond W. Reeves and Marion (Ferguson) Reeves, died peacefully surrounded by his family on September 11, 2024. Brother of the late Harry W. Reeves, and the late Dorothy Reeves Mapes.

He and his beloved wife, Marjorie (Jerry) (Ray) Reeves were married for 70 years and enjoyed family, traveling, playing golf, bridge and had many dear friends. Also survived by 3 sons, Jeffrey Scott (Jackie), Michael Brian (Karen) and John Matthew (Joanne). He was Gramps to 4 grandsons, Adam Jeffrey (Lauren), Bryan Philip, (Sarah), Jack Andrew, and Brandon Thomas, as well as 2 great-granddaughters, Jade Lucille and Nora Joanne.

Jack worked in the Property & Casualty Insurance Industry for 70 years, retiring at the age of 90. He started his career as a mail boy with the American Surety Company, progressing to underwriting, marketing and management. He worked at the Royal Globe Insurance Company for 26 years, to then becoming the President of the Insurance Agency and Vice President of AAA Motor Club of Pittsburgh.

Jack spent many years actively involved in The Insurance Club of Pittsburgh and served as the President of the club.

He was an active member of the Pleasant Hills Presbyterian Church since 1969 and served several years as a Deacon.

Jack was also a Mason for over 70 years in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.

Jack was a true gentleman, made friends easily, was known for his terrific sense of humor and made everyone groan to hear his jokes! He never met a stranger!

Their wonderful family, he and Jerry enjoyed many cruises, especially to their favorite island of Bermuda, as well as trips to Germany (river cruise), Ireland, Hawaii, and Alaska.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no viewing. On Friday, October 25, 2024, there will be a visitation at the Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church (located at 199 Old Clairton Road, Pleasant Hills, PA 15236) in the Fellowship Hall from 10-11 a.m. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary. All are welcome to join the family for a luncheon in Fellowship Hall following the service. Arrangements handled by the John F.     Loss of my slightly senior, pinochle playing friend has hit hard. You were a great friend Jack and never forgot to give this 94 year old a call now and then just to stay in touch. My sympathies to your wife and children. I'll miss our laughter filled phone calls. Fred Knob
