February 12, 1947 - April 17, 2014

Gallagher, James A.

Age 67, on Thursday, April 17, 2014, of Whitehall.

Husband of Patricia Gallagher; father of James (Robin) Gallagher, Kelly Gallagher (Nathan Brooks) and Kimberly Gallagher (Anthony Cravotta); grandfather of Juliette Isabella Brooks and Allen James Gallagher; son of the late Earl A., Sr. and Lyrise J. Gallagher; brother of Gary D. (Deborah) Gallagher, Keith B. (Leslie) Gallagher and the late Earl A. Gallagher, Jr.; brother-in-law of Christine(William) Alichnie; nephew of Lorraine (David) Herr and Lois Gallagher; also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jim was a Vietnam Veteran, serving in the US Navy. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, Tuesday from 2-6 p.m. at which time funeral services will be held. If desired, family suggests contributions to Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 862, 260 Brooks Drive, Beaver Falls, PA 15010 or American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205.

    Hi Patty, I don't know if you'll ever read this but I'm very sorry for your loss. I didn't know your sons or daughters but I'm sorry for their loss too. Jim was a nice guy. By reading this page I see a lot of people felt that way. I knew Jim since grade school. I liked him from the start. I respected him as a man. When I met you and found out you knew Jim. I was very surprised. You knowing him made me take a big turn in my life that I have never forgot. I'm sorry I have taken so long to say all this. Please email me if you would like too.     To the Gallagher Family, It takes some of us a bit of time to look for our past. Today I went looking for Jim. I am sorry that he's gone. He was a great guy and a smart, tough shipmate who was always counted on. By everyone. He's one of my very best memories of a difficult time, a wonderful human being. It doesn't get any better than that. My belated condolences.

    My deepest condolences to the family of James. I met Jim back in 2001 while working at the same shop he had a project in. I was very new to the inspection field and Jim went out of his way to help me get started, for which I will always be grateful! The several times I'd seen him since then were always pleasant and I truly enjoyed his company as did many others. He will missed! May you Rest in Peace, Jim

    Patty I'm very sorry to hear about Jim, I've been thinking about him everyday since I heard the news. I remember talking to the both of you at Aunt Eva's Birthday. And going home thinking Jim was still one of the coolest cousins. He will be missed by all of us, especially his Family, God Bless All of you, We will be thinking of you and keep you in our prayers.     Pat & Family, I was shocked to hear of Jim's passing last Thursday. Jim will be in my prayers at Easter Sunday Mass tomorrow. I don't think he'll need to wear a helmet in Heaven. May Gad bless all of you, Jack Lanigan

    Dad, I know that I don't need to say it, but I'm proud to be your son. I'll always be grateful for our "guy" time we had together. I'll do my best to love Robin with the same unconditional love which you have for Mom. I'll do my best to raise your grandson, with the same fatherly love that you gave to me, Kelly, and Kimmy.
