Obituary For James Patrick "Pat" Hayes

Age 88, surrounded by his family on Monday, August 25, 2025, of the South Hills.

Beloved husband of 67 years to Marlene (Very); loving father of Timothy P. (Ellen), Christine H. (Robert) Nolin and Lorraine H. (Kevin) Williams; proud Pap-Pap of Kelsey, Cameron, Jenna, Elizabeth, Allison, Pat and Christopher; great Pap-Pap of Charles, Leonardo and Rory. Pat was a cherished brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend to many. Pat was a 31 year employee of PNC Bank where he worked in many capacities including Director of Student Loans and retiring as Vice-President. He was also a very well-decorated volunteer at Jefferson Hospital. His services there were widely respected and appreciated. He has the distinguished honor of winning the National Presidential Volunteer of the Year Award. It is estimated he had over 4,000 volunteer hours. Pat was known for his unrelenting Irish humor and was happiest being a Pap-Pap.

Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 from 4-8 p.m. Funeral prayer on Thursday morning at 9:00. Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Hope Parish, St. Germaine Church at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to Alzheimer's Association - Greater Pennsylvania Chapter, 2835 E. Carson Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15203.

    Pat was a wonderful, kind and special man. I admired him and his love of life and his family. He will be remembered for his generosity and spirit of love that he always shared with many of us,. Rest in peace knowing your work in this world mattered.

    Condolences on the passing of Pat. He was a wonderful caring man. I recall when he worked at PNC and I was new to financial aid, the students' loan checks had not arrived Vaon time, so he personally brought the checks to my office at CMU. Pat wax so highly respected by his school clients. He wax a very good man. Rest in peace, Pat.
