Obituary For James R. Behers

On Saturday evening, June 28, 2025, the most amazing man took his last breath and made his journey to Heaven. James Robert Behers, age 76, is survived by his wife of 55 years, Diana (Fox) Behers, his daughters, Traci (Tommy) Dougherty and Stephanie (Nikki) Behers; his sister, Donna Klindt; his three adoring grandchildren, Taylor, Tara, and Aidan Dougherty; and his ever-faithful pup, Tinsel Lee "Tinny Dog". He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Jim and Lillian Behers, and his siblings Paul Gelet, William "Porky" Behers, Sharon D'Amico and Marilyn Haid.

Jim was a car nut, to say the least. We once sat down and made a list of about 80 cars and trucks that he has owned in his lifetime. One particular instance that shows his car enthusiasm, was when he traded a perfectly drivable vehicle for three pieces of junk on a flatbed. And, hence, that junk turned into his beloved 1957 Chevy Sedan Delivery, a very rare car.

Jim worked at several different companies during his career, including Matthew's Bronze, Midas Muffler, Speedy Muffler, Meineke Muffler, Pittsburgh Regional Transit - fixing wrecked buses, and lastly, West Jefferson Hills School District. Notice all the vehicle references?

Jim enjoyed many things in life like going fishing, playing softball, going to car shows, and his love of oldies music. But most important was spending time with his family.

We have been so incredibly blessed to have this remarkable man as our husband, dad, Papa, and brother!! Not a day will go by that we won't think about him and miss him terribly. Jim's final resting place will be the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Ocean City, Maryland after Diana joins him in eternity. It was their favorite vacation place, where many memories were made.

Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Thursday, July 3, 2025 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held privately. If desired, family suggests contributions to the Alzheimer's Association - Greater Pennsylvania Chapter, 2835 E. Carson Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15203 or Amedysis Hospice, 3835 Northern Pike Suite 3, Monroeville, PA 15146.

My heart is broken for all of you. Jimmy was always so sweet and kind to all of us. We were not a very close extended family unit but Jimmy always did his best and tried his hardest to keep us present in each others lives. He was an extraordinary human being and I will also miss those few times we were able to talk or see each other. RIP Jimmy Behers. You were certainly one of a kind. With Love From Your Cousin Val

I met Jimmy and Diane at Pages Dairy over 57 years ago shortly after meeting my wife of 55 years there. We became close friends and both enjoyed cars. Jim was a fun guy and he worked for me for a short time. A great worker, always willing to learn more. He introduced me to Ulio Vladimire Bovi Shinski. I said, "Who is that Jim"? He said "I don't know but that's what I'm calling him". I laughed every time he said that. So sad to hear of his passing. He will forever be in our heart and thoughts. Until we meet again my friend. May You Rest in Peace. Our sincere condolences to you Diane and your family. Eddie and Bev Rieland
