Obituary For James R. Stoker

March 23, 1947 - September 18, 2017

Stoker, James R., age 70, after a courageous three year battle with cancer, on Monday, September 18, 2017 of Whitehall. Beloved husband of 35 years to Barb Stoker; father of Sean Stoker and Kelsey (Aaron) Buechel; grandfather of Bennett James Buechel; brother of Robert (Nancy) Stoker; uncle of Jonathan Stoker. Jim was the National Secretary-Treasurer, CEO of GBU Financial Life for 24 years. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Please meet at church. If desired, family suggests contributions to GBU Foundation, 4254 Saw Mill Run Blvd, Pittsburgh, PA 15227.

    We were saddened to hear of the death of Jim Stoker. Please extend our sincere sympathy to Barbara and the family. Our District 536 of GBU thought a lot of Jim and he will be missed by all.     Barb: I haven't seen or talked to Jim in quite some time, and only found out about his illness while attending Dave Meade's funeral. In fact, I was hoping to see Jim there. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. We all shared many great times together while working at Grant. I am currently out of town and probably will not make it back in time to pay my respects in person, but wanted to send mine and Sharon's deepest condolences to you and your family. Jim King
