Obituary For Jeanette Fidorra-Sonick

Age 92, sadly passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, of Baldwin and Whitehall.

Dedicated to her family, she is the mother of Pamela Veith-Schenecker; loving wife of the late Henry Fidorra and Bernard Sonick; loving Gram of Valerie (John) Bachner, Bobby (Tina) Veith, Brendon (Kelly) Schenecker and Kerry (Katie) Veith; great-grandmother of Gabrielle, Natalie, John Jr., Sydney, Isabella, Jordyn, Lexi, Charlie and Evie; sister of the late Port and Wanetta O'Shell.

Jeanette was a true community facilitator. She made a career for herself, employed by the Baldwin-Whitehall School District as the school office secretary for 30 years. As a woman of faith, she was an active member of Brentwood Presbyterian and Spencer United Methodist Churches. A valued community member, Jeanette involved herself in Girl Scouts, PTA, the Baldwin Library Board, and AARP. She continued her zest to remain active, well into her later years, with her intense awareness of local politics. She absolutely loved working the polls on Election Day. It was an opportunity for her to discuss what she loved with those that shared the same passion.

As a lifelong learner and avid reader, Jeanette lived each day to the fullest; she enjoyed the company of others, learning new things and keeping herself busy with her knitting, cross-stitching and book clubs. She was a perfectionist and demonstrated this in the meticulous way she tended to her garden and flower beds. Jeanette was independent and self-confident. Her legacy of living an honest, pious life is one to be cherished and will be greatly missed.

Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 4201 Brownsville Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15227, 412-881-4100, on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12:00 p.m.

During my years as the librarian at Paynter Middle School, Jeannette became a good friend. She lived on the same street as I did growing up. Fond memories of Jeannette and sympathy to all her family.
