Obituary For JoAnne Emery

October 24, 1931 - March 24, 2015

Emery (Rufft), JoAnne, age 83, at home peacefully on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 of Brentwood. Beloved wife of the late Jim Emery; loving mother of Laurenda (Dave) Mackey, Jamie (Bob) Carnegie, Kathleen Kraus, Tom (Mary Beth), Julie (Rob) McGlaughlin, and the late Michael (Bobby) Emery; proud grandmother of 14; great-grandmother of 1, soon to be 3; sister of Rose Ellen (John) Goda, Ellen Rufft, CDP and the late Mary Jean Rufft. Also survived by dear cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. JoAnne was a pioneer graduate of the University of Pittsburgh where she earned a B.S. in Business Administration (1953). She enjoyed reading, opera, and frequent New York City trips. Joanne was at her happiest being a wife, mother, and grandmother. A close second was being at a casino or enjoying a good Manhattan. Her family will miss her positive outlook on life and unique sense of humor. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Thursday and Friday from 2-8 p.m. Funeral prayer on Saturday morning at 9:15. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Sylvester Church at 10:00 a.m. If desired, family suggests contributions to National M.S. Society, Pennsylvania Keystone Chapter, 1501 Reedsdale St # 105, Cardelllo Building, Pittsburgh, PA 15233.
