  I want to say that it was a pleasure to know John and work together with him on the Lakewood Village Board in Fort Meyers, Florida. John truly cared about the welfare of the community and was a natural leader throughout his years on the Board. He was a man of character and principle. I will miss him sleeping at the pool, riding his bike with Maureen every where in the area, and lastly feeling sorry for me because I was Detroit Lion fan and he was a true Steeler fan. I will miss my friend John, may he Rest In Peace.

  To Maureen and the Joyce family, I want to express my condolences and sadness at the news of John's passing. I began my career at Mellon in 1966 and knew John from then on. We were colleagues but for many years he was also my manager. He was as much a friend as anything else. It was always a pleasure working with him and I learned a lot from him. I almost followed him to RBC but did not. We had many good times outside of work as you may remember Maureen. Mellon Christmas parties and other get togethers were always a blast. I am glad I got to speak with him several weeks ago and came away believing he was doing well. My wife and I are on vacation out west and thus unfortunately cannot make the services. My very best to you Maureen and the family. I pray Gods peace will overwhelm you as you move into a new normal. God Bless, Don and Linda Greb.

  Maureen and Family, I am truly sorry to hear of John's passing. I had the pleasure of working with John for many years at Mellon Bank. I have many fond memories of John on a working level, as well as on a personal level. He really cared about the people that worked for him. I have told "John" stories for years, even after he left Mellon Bank.
