Obituary For John Luther Barr

December 8, 1937 - May 27, 2017

Age 79, of Baldwin Borough, died peacefully in his home with family at his side. Loving husband of 46 years of Joann (Kissinger); father of Shane (Jessica) Barr and Mindy (Josh) Alexander; grandfather of Braden Barr, Case Alexander, Nathan Barr and Ella Alexander and Rylan Barr; beloved son of the late Braden and Irene (Fennell) Barr; brother of the late Lawrence Barr and Dorothy Urik. John was a member of the Four Winds BMW motorcycle and Chartiers Beagle Clubs and a member of the Kiskiminetas Masonic Lodge. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. John worked for U.S. Steel for 42 years and was a member of Good Shepard Lutheran Church. Earlier in life, John enjoyed hunting and raising Beagles for field trials. John loved being outdoors camping and hiking with his wife, Joann and dog, Carley. He and Joann also enjoyed riding their motorcycles. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to Three-Rivers Hospice, 125 N. Franklin Drive, Ste. 3, Washington, PA 15301

    Joann, We are so sorry to hear about John. We have sadly been through this a lot lately but we have been through it together as family. He will not be alone up above and he will watch over us.
