November 13, 1928 - March 11, 2015 Jarkiewicz, Julia A. (Moryken) Age 86, of Whitehall, peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 11, 2015. Beloved wife of 62 years Edward F. Jarkiewicz, Sr.; loving mother of Kathie (the late Charles) Brennan, Linda (Minor) Shapiro, Edward F., Jr. (Monica) and Nancy (Thomas) Songer; devoted grandmother of Drew (Casey), Jonathan, Stephen, Nicholas, Alison and Dennis; sister of John Moryken and the late Ann, Michael, Charles and Helen. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Julia was a 1950 graduate of the Altoona Hospital School of Nursing. After a nursing career spanning over 40 years, she retired as Assistant Director of Nursing from Asbury Heights in 1991. She continued her involvement in nursing as a member the Southwestern PA Registered Nurses Club, holding many positions, including President. She touched us with her home cooked meals, which were the best expression of her unconditional love. She had a rich, fulfilled life, sharing traveling experiences with her beloved Ed. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Rd., Brentwood 15227, Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Prayer on Monday morning at 9:15.
