Obituary For Laverne T. Gephart

June 1, 1926 - June 23, 2015

Gephart, Laverne T. (Trussell) Age 89, on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 of Whitehall.

Wife of the late Russell J. Gephart; mother of Cheryl Ann (Roch) Kujava and James R. (Lori) Gephart; grandmother of Jennifer (Derek) Shaw, Brittany Gephart, Matthew Kujava and Cameron (Kristen) Gephart; also survived by nieces and nephews. Laverne was a member of Baldwin Community United Methodist Church in Whitehall. She retired from the Federal Reserve Bank of Pittsburgh after working 30 years. Laverne was very active in her retirement years, volunteering for OASIS, the Pittsburgh Symphony, and with local community voting elections. She was also active in area book clubs and published two stories as a result of her many years involvement. Her family and friends were the most important things in her life. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Rd., Brentwood 15227, Thursday from 2-8 p.m., where funeral services will be held on Friday morning at 10:00.

    I always made it a point to visit with Uncle Russ and Aunt Laverne when going to or through Pittsburgh. Russell and Laverne were my extended parents and a close connection to my roots. We send our condolences to family and friends at Laverne's passing but also our wishes that those who hold her dear will have as much love, life and adventure. Love, Paul, Tetyana & Nikolas
