Age 85, of Baldwin, formerly of Brentwood, Beechview, and Mt. Washington, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 13, 2025. Beloved husband of the late Joyce (Waters) Shanahan. Loving father of Colleen (Bob) Benton and the late Larry Shanahan. Proud PapPap of Nathan (Mikaela Dragt), Bobby, and Jacob Benton. Great PapPap of Emery Joy Benton. Also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews whom he loved dearly. Larry proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965 and worked for LTV Steel for 40 years until his retirement in 1998. He will be remembered as a kind and gentle man who always put others before himself. To know Larry was to love him. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood, PA 15227, on Friday, September 19, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Prayer on Saturday morning at 9:45 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Blessed Trinity Parish, St. Sylvester Church at 10:30 a.m.
