Obituary For Leo Patrick Bigley

December 25, 1936 - August 23, 2015

Bigley, Leo Patrick Age 78, formerly of Mt. Washington and Carrick, passed peacefully on Sunday, August 23, 2015.

Son of the late Paul and Julia Bigley; loving father of Patrick, Thomas (Kathleen), Mary Lynn (Chris) Meyers, Eileen (Todd) Harris and Ed (Missy); brother of Thomas (Joan), Gerard (Maureen), Marie (Ken) Holtz and the late Paul; grandfather of Joseph (Nicole), Jamie, Patrick, Sean, Michael, Ryan, Shane, Thomas, Theresa, Brendan and Megan; great-grandfather of Augustus; also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Leo was a labor leader acting as the business agent and business manager of his beloved Pittsburgh Plumbers L.U. #27 for over 30 years. He worked tirelessly to make a better life for his members and he never forgot the retirees. Leo was a member of A.A. since 1977, offering strength and support to his many friends. He was an avid fan of the Pirates, Steelers, and the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. Leo's life was dedicated to his faith in God, his family, and his Union. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Prayer on Saturday morning at 9:15. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Basil Church at 10:00 am. If desired, family suggests contributions to the Rebos House, 5424 Second Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15207.

Lee-schku" we loved breaking bread together, laughing at your jokes , "orthodox" funeral chants, your cards and letters, husking corn at Conneaut Lake and SO much more! We will miss you and we thank you for all you have done for us these many years; and for sharing your wonderful children and grandchildren who serve as a lasting legacy of you special presence in this world.     Uncle Leo was a giving man who with the help of his brother Gerard made sure Paul's children were provided for and loved. The selfless acts of these two men and their dedication to decency for their nieces and nephew will surely be rewarded for eternity. Rest in peace with your just reward Uncle Leo.
