On Thursday, October 12, 2023, Marie Mildred (Hoesch) Mathews, 100 years old, joined her late husband, Thomas George Mathews in death. She is survived by her daughters, Karen Ann Proch and Donna Marie Beiter; grandsons Gary John Proch, Brian Geoffrey Proch and granddaughter Jennifer Mara (Beiter) Bosley; great-grandsons Thomas Beiter Bosley, Jackson Charles Bosley, Daniel Quinn Bosley. Also survived by numerous nieces an nephews of three generations. She was preceded in death by her brother John Hoesch and sisters Helen R. Chess Gaus and Gloria Walker Wells.

Marie was blessed with 66 years of marriage with a devoted and loving husband. They shared the joy of adoring and caring for their three grandchildren. She was a professional woman who operated her own business, the Marie Mathews Company, preparing copy for printers.

Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Sunday, October 15, 2023 from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. Funeral prayer on Monday morning at 9:45. Mass of Christian Burial in Blessed Trinity Parish, St. Sylvester Church at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, 2835 E Carson Street, Suite 200, Pittsburgh, PA 15203.
