May 8, 1921 - October 1, 2014 Yandrich, Marko Age 93, of Bethel Park, left this earth peacefully on October 1, 2014, with his son and daughter by his side. Born on May 8, 1921, Marko was one of 10 children of the late Dmitar and Sava Jandric of Steelton, PA. A long-time resident of Midland, PA, Marko was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mary (Martich) Yandrich. Marko is survived by a brother, Steve of Las Vegas, NV; son, Demetrius and daughter-in-law, Olga, granddaughter, Ana and grandson, Adam Yandrich of Bethel Park; daughter, Dessa and son-in-law, Rudley, granddaughters, Jelena Mrvos of Bethel Park and Sara Mrvos of Annapolis, MD. He is also survived by brother-in-law and sister-in-law, George and Mildred Martich of Weirton, WV, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Milan and Mercia Martich of Northridge, CA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Marko was a decorated WWII veteran and served with the US Navy in the Pacific theater. He was a retired steelworker, and remained a member of the St. George Serbian Orthodox Church of Midland, PA throughout his life. Marko was a loyal husband, loving father, and doting grandfather. He was extremely proud of his Serbian heritage, and maintained his Orthodox faith and Serbian customs until his final days. He enjoyed cooking for his family and lovingly prepared traditional Serbian cuisine, particularly for holidays when he would spit-roast suckling pigs and lambs. He was also an avid gardener, and enjoyed the numerous compliments he received for his beautifully cared-for yard and home. It was a great source of pride that in 1984 he traveled to his family's homeland, successfully reconnected with relatives and visited the family farm where his ancestors lived and his father was born and raised. Visitation will be on Sunday, October 5 at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Rd., Brentwood, 15227 from 2-8 p.m., with a Pomen (blessing) service at 3:00 p.m. Additional visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 6 at Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, 450 Maxwell Dr., Pittsburgh, PA 15236, with a funeral liturgy following at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the St. Sava Serbian Cemetery, Hamilton Rd., Bethel Park, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, 30 10th St., Midland, PA 15059, or Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, 450 Maxwell Dr., Pgh., PA 15227, or the International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC). The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Country Meadows Rehabilitation Center of Bridgeville and the staff of Mt. Vernon of South Park Assisted Living for their kindness and compassionate care. May his memory be eternal.
