Age 89, of Pleasant Hills, slipped peacefully away and went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Thursday, December 9, 2021. She had a deep Christian faith and taught Bible studies for over 50 years. Marlen also spent years researching her family's genealogy, discovering interesting facts and stories from many decades ago. She was a avid writer, gardener and advocate for people with developmental disabilities. Marlen was predeceased by her parents, George and Elinor (Peterson) Brutout and her husband of 56 years Perry E. Whitehair and her stepson John C. Macon, Jr. She is survived by her husband John C. Macon, Sr.; her sister, Laurel (Harry) West of State College PA; son Perry M. (Cynthia) Whitehair of Magna UT, daughter Karen J. (Dean) Swartwood of Cortland NY, sons Eric and Chris Whitehair of McKeesport PA, stepdaughter Angel (Christopher) Adkins of Ellsworth OH, stepdaughter April (Craig) Geis of Canton ,OH. Also survived by 17 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. There will be a Celebration of Life service at Calvary Baptist Church, 120 Anborn Dr, West Mifflin on Friday, December 17, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. followed by burial at The National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville PA.
