Age 85, passed peacefully, on Monday, December 29, 2025, of Brentwood. Beloved wife of 62 years to Michael Cavataio; loving mother of Frank P. (Suzanne), Michael (Kathleen), John V. and the late Thomas P. Cavataio; cherished grandma of Vincent, Victor, Julia, Michaela, Sophia, Vivian, Victoria, Samantha and Miranda; sister of John Barnishin, Helen (John) Donahoe, Barbara (Paul) Aleva, Patricia (Al) Marengo and the late Robert (survived by Terry) Barnishin and Thomas (survived by Dorothy) Barnishin; sister-in-law of Josephine "Pina" Longo. Also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends. Mary was deeply involved with her family and their activities and was a longtime, proud member of the Brentwood Lions Club. She was an amazing cook and a renowned hostess who warmly welcomed everyone into her home. Mary was happiest when spending time with her grandchildren. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Friday, January 2, 2026 from 3-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Blessed Trinity Parish, St. Sylvester Church on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Everyone please meet at church.
