September 16, 1926 - September 2, 2017 Waltz, Mildred B. What a wonderfully fulfilling life Mildred Brand Waltz has lead. Although she passed away on September 2, 2017, she will be remembered for her kindness and loving spirit. She was blessed in the 91 years she was with us with a wonderful husband, Samuel Bailey Waltz III (a Mechanical Engineer) and 3 children, Kim, an architect, Karen, a diplomat (Tom), and Carol, a lawyer (Jim). Millie was born in Jeannette, Pennsylvania in 1926. She lived through the Great Depression and remembers the hardships of that era, she volunteered in her community during World War II and the Korean War and was an avid volunteer in her retirement years. She married and moved to California and pursued her teaching degree, worked for several companies, and actively raised her 3 children. Upon retirement, Millie and her husband Sam moved to Milledgeville, Georgia on Lake Oconee so that they could enjoy boat rides, stunning sunsets and cultivated a large group of friends including several belonging to "the 3 Old Goats Society". Mildred returned to Pleasant Hills to enjoy her later years in the company of her siblings and to her beloved Pittsburgh. Her life achievements can be counted in the smiles of those around her. She is now at rest and we will hold her near to us in our hearts. There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, September 6 in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church at 10:00 a.m. Please meet at church. Contact Us to have your link and message added here.
