Obituary For Murray Jacobson

January 14, 1924 - August 7, 2015

Jacobson, Murray of Baldwin Boro., passed away in his home on August 7, 2015 at the age of 91.

Born in Bayonne, New Jersey, the son of Harry and Anna Jacobson on January 14, 1924. Murray was a WWII Army Veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater from 1944 through 1946. He graduated from Gettysburg College in 1948 with a degree in chemistry. He married the late Bette Lou Baughman, of Gettysburg and together they raised four children; Barbara Lee Johnson (Craig), Susan Schwadron, Bruce (Paula) and the late Cynthia. Murray also enjoyed his five grandsons; Shane, Michael, Adam, Andrew and Joseph; and his great-grandson, Jacob. Murray was employed at the Bureau of Mines, Department of the Interior and then with the Mine Safety and Health Administration, Department of Labor in 1987. Funeral services will be held privately at Monohan's Funeral Home, Carlisle Street, Gettysburg, PA with interment at Evergreen Cemetery, Baltimore St., Gettysburg. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to, Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Alliance Foundation, 901 Washington St., Buffalo, NY, 14263.

    So sorry to hear of Murray's passing, When I was young lawyer in the 70's Murray was a kind enough to teach me the ins and outs of coal mine respirable dust and we remained good colleagues for many years after. He should remembered for his commitment to miner's health. My sympathy and condolences to this family.
