Obituary For Nancy (Kurtz) Lippert

January 11, 1932 - July 5, 2016

Lippert, Nancy (Kurtz) Age 84, on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, of Castle Shannon.

Beloved wife of the late Robert C. Lippert; beloved mother of Irene (Robert) McTiernan of Whitehall and Linda Hindmarch of Green Tree; beloved grandmother of Sarah Maritz (Steven), Rachel Hindmarch, Dylan Hindmarch and Daniel McTiernan; cherished daughter of the late Ruth (Reiland) and Samuel Kurtz; much loved sister of the late Kenneth Kurtz; beloved sister-in-law of Janet Robb; treasured friend of Colleen Donehue. Nancy was the Dir. of the Office for Electronic Media in the Diocese of Pittsburgh and television producer of "The Teaching of Christ" hosted by (then Bishop) Cardinal Donald Wuerl, which ran for 17 years and won 24 national awards, "Catholics" hosted by Rev. Ronald Lengwin and "To Teach as Jesus Did" hosted by the late Bishop Anthony Bosco. As Chair of Christian Associates Television Ministry Committee she coordinated WPXI-TV's mass for shut-ins as well as cablecasts of daily mass and special events from St. Paul Cathedral and St. Mary of Mercy Church. She was a proud recipient of the Manifesting the Kingdom Award and took great comfort in the contribution her television productions made to faith formation and education. Nancy thought of herself foremost as a volunteer. She was PR Dir. of Pennsylvanians for Human Life SW Region, Founder of Pgh. Aux. of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Providence of God and active alumnae of St. Francis Academy. She was an accomplished seamstress, hostess, avid tennis player and fan. She loved to read and even wrote a book. She was a Christmas enthusiast her whole life but was happiest when celebrating her birthday each year with childhood friends who shared the same day. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, on Thursday from 6-9 pm and Friday from 2-4 and 6-9 pm. Funeral Prayer on Saturday morning at 9:15. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Gabriel Church at 10 am. Memorial donations may be made to Castle Shannon Library, 3677 Myrtle Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15234.
