Obituary For Noretta A. Frushell

May 6, 1934 - September 27, 2015

Frushell, Noretta "Netta" Albertini Age 81, on Sunday, September 27, 2015, of Brentwood, formerly of Pleasant Hills.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 57-1/2 years, Richard Frushell, and three sons and two daughters, along with 13 grandchildren: Marc Anthony (Martha) of Gardner, MA, and their nine children, Marcantonio, Olivia, Peter, Emma Rose, Sophie, Ana, Catalina, Chloe, and John; Stacy Frushell of Whitehall; Gabriella Hackett (Bruce) of Whitehall and their children, Kristen and Kraig; Matthew (Stephanie) of Danville, CA, and their daughter Sarah; and Daniel of Baldwin and his daughter Riley. Netta's sister is Cecelia "Ceil" Albertini Wilson of Mt. Lebanon. Netta was a dedicated and revered mother and grandmother "Nana", a loving and much loved wife of many years, and a warm and fast friend to many over the years in the several states she lived in: PA, NM, IN, IL and MD, where she had no small reputation for being a witty and flawless hostess to those who came to the Frushell (Fruscella, really) household. A proud first-generation Italian-American, Netta's parents died when she was a young girl; Battista Albertini from the Brescia region of Italy and Sue Aiello whose roots were in Calabria. Although Netta couldn't remember many specifics about her mother's prowess as a cook and baker, she, along with her sister Ceil, clearly were hard-wired to be matchless cooks and bakers. Her pasta e fagioli (a simple dish, yes, but one that is difficult to concoct "just right") was as good as anyone ever tasted, even those who ate the beans-and-macs in Italy. Too, Netta's lemony Easter cheesecake was spectacular. She was, as well, a lover and student of the Italian language and its art. She was an able performer of the oral interpretation of literature at Indiana State University in the state of IN, where Netta was an active member of the academic community while also working at the university's purchasing department as administrative assistant. This was a return to similar work done some years earlier when she was at the B&O Railroad and U.S. Steel Corporation in Pittsburgh and Uranium and Oil in Roswell, NM, where her husband was stationed in the Air Force. Netta had been active in the Catholic churches she'd been part of, most recently the Bible Study group at St. Sylvester Church in Brentwood. Her gravestone inscription will be that of the Blessed John Henry (Cardinal) Newman: "Out of the shadows and appearances into the truth". Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Funeral Prayer on Thursday morning at 9:15. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Sylvester Church at 10 am. Interment at Calvary Cemetery in Hazelwood, Pittsburgh at a future date. In lieu of flowers, prayers are requested for Pittsburgh's poor and unemployed and underemployed. Financial offerings in Netta's name will be gratefully received at the Jubilee Kitchen, Pittsburgh Uptown or the Little Sisters of the Poor.

My deepest sympathy for the loss of Mrs. Frushell. It is truly saddening when we lose a loved one in death. I too have lost loved ones in death and what helps me to cope is by relying on the Bible. One of my favorite verses are John 5:28,29. There we are promised a resurrection in which we will actually be able to see our loved ones again. Just think of the time when you will be able to embrace Mrs. Frushell and laugh and talk with her again. This is a promise that we all can look forward to. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family in this time of need.

Sending love and sympathy to all of the Frushell family. I have been praying for Netta and for all of you. Netta was a wonderful woman and I have the fondest memories of times spent at your home in Terre Haute. I remember watching Netta make homemade ravioli and I was amazed! Always great food and a warm welcome at the Frushell home. Hold tight to your faith and one another during this time. God's peace to all of you.

My sincere Blessings to all the Frushell family. Netta was a truly wonderful mother and friend to all her children's friends. May God hold you tight during this trying time, but know she is in His kingdom. Gabby, please know I am praying for you and the family. I drove by and stopped at the house on 11th street and smiled. Some of my best childhood memories were in that house. God Bless all of you!!

Our whole family sends their sympathies to all of you. Growing up across the street from your family was wonderful. I will never forget the good times and great food at your home. Netta was indeed a tremendous cook but I always marveled at what an outstanding, caring mother and example she was to all of you. I pray for her and for all of you. Peace be with you.
