Obituary For Đoái Đình Nguyễn

Born on October 10, 1955, in Vietnam, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 14, 2025, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, after a courageous and lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

He was the devoted husband of Tan Dinh, loving father to Phuong, Toan, Khuong, and proud grandfather of Louis and Ivy. He was a cherished brother to Fr. Dam Nguyen, Chi Nguyen, Son Nguyen, Tuan Nguyen, Dung Nguyen, Hung Nguyen, and their families, a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was also a dear friend to all who knew him. Doai is predeceased by his parents, Nganh and Ngat Nguyen, his brother Huyen, and his sisters Thao and Dung.

Known for his calm, kind, and gentle spirit and his ever-present smile. Doai met life’s challenges with quiet strength and grace. From building a new life in a foreign country without knowing English, to walking miles and working long, irregular hours to support his family, he embodied resilience, humility, and selflessness.

Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Friday, June 20, 2025 from 2-5 and 6-9 p.m. Funeral Prayer on Saturday morning at 9:00. Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Hope Parish, St Gabriel Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Canonsburg.

Our family is deeply grateful for the prayers, support, and presence of our friends and community during Doai’s final days. Your kindness and care brought us great comfort during this difficult time. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the hospice care staff, Dr. Thuy Bui, Dr. Nghi and Mrs. Hanh Nguyen, and Mr. Khuy Tran for their unwavering support and compassion.
