Passed away peacefully at her home of 58 years on October 29, 2022. Over her 89 years, she was known as Patsy, Patty, Pat, Mrs. Edwin Brueggman, Babes, Mom, Mother, Mum, Grammy, Grandma, Mrs. Rudolph Pallan, Baby Girl, Sweetheart, My Bride and Great Grandma. She loved and was so deeply loved by her family, friends and neighbors. Pat was born in the Borough of Mount Oliver, overlooking the city of Pittsburgh in 1933. The youngest member of the Charles Weber and Marie Elizabeth (Sullivan) Beckman family, she looked up to her sister Audrey (Jones) and brothers Albert and Charles their entire lives. She was always proud to purchase her cars from Beckman Motors, her family’s car dealership, still located in Mount Oliver. She graduated from Brentwood High School in 1950 and joyfully maintained active friendships with “the girls” for as long as life allowed. She graduated from the University of Miami in 1954 and moved back to Pittsburgh in 1955 to marry her high school sweetheart, Edwin J. Brueggman. She and Ed created a home in Baldwin Borough and raised their family of five children: Laurie Ann (married Gregg Scheuring), Roberta Lee (married Peter Donovan), Edwin Michael, Michael Richard (married Terry Hoerger) and Elizabeth Marie (married Richard Giles). They embarked on many summer camping vacations that took them from one coast of North America to the other. She was proud to tell anyone who would listen how important it was to her that all five families are rooted in the Pittsburgh area. When Ed died in 1985, after 29 years of marriage, Pat was already a grandmother to Joel Donovan and Gregory Scheuring. As the years passed, she was blessed with additional grandchildren Kathleen Scheuring, Molly, Bailey and Hannah Donovan, Abigail and Edwin Jr. Brueggman, Samantha and Michael Brueggman, and Aiden and Rylan Giles. She was also the great grandmother of Luca, Ivan, Effie, Inez and Alta. She loved each of them. Pat’s life took another beautiful turn when she and Rudolph “Rudy” John Pallan, also a 1950 Brentwood graduate, fell deeply in love and married in 1997. Little did she know he had carried a torch for her since the first time he saw her back in high school. Together they lived life to its fullest, multiplying their joy with dancing, singing and international travel. They brought positive energy and a joie de vivre to every gathering. Their twenty-five-year “Camelot” marriage serves as an inspiration and an example of the power of love. Pat was full of life and determination. She personified one of her favorite songs, When Irish Eyes are Smiling. She was a model of generosity and loyalty. She will be deeply missed by Rudy, her children, all who loved her - especially her dear friend and helpmate Kate Reilly, and by the many people she interacted with along the way. Visitation will be at John F. Slater Funeral Home, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood, 15227 on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday, November 3, 2022 from 5-8 p.m. Funeral Prayer on Friday morning at 9:30.
