Patterson, Philip Wayne of Finleyville, Pa, formerly of Bethel Park, passed peacefully on June 5, 2014. He was the husband of the late Janet Patterson and previously Catherine Patterson. Phil was preceded in death by his parents Robert F. and Dorothy Reid Patterson, and his sister Donna Meister-Freiwald, and a niece Terri Lynn Funk. He is survived by his children Michelle Patterson, of Slidell, La; Todd Patterson, of Germantown, Md; and Kip Patterson, of Austin, Tx. He was the stepfather of Michael Toole, of Clinton, Pa., and Jeffrey Toole, of Pittsburgh. He was loving grandfather to and was adored by Daniel Shea, Kellie, TJ, and Luke Patterson; Jacqueline Toole, Cassidy and Jensen Toole. He is also survived by his siblings Karen Cheney, of New Philadelphia, Oh, and Sheila Greene, of Renton, Washington. Loving father-in-law to Cheryl Patterson, Beth Patterson, Melissa Toole, and Steve Douglas. He was Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Phil was a 1951 graduate of Parma Senior High School, Parma, Oh, and Case Institute of Technology (Case Western Reserve), where he graduated in 1955 with a degree in Metallurgical Engineering. He was employed by Bettis Westinghouse, in Pittsburgh, Pa., from where he retired after 38 years of dedicated service. He was a motorcycle enthusiast who continued to ride off-road events well into his senior years. He is a lifetime member of the American Motorcycle Association. He enjoyed softball, basketball, and attending family events. Phil was the life of the party and in his own humorous way, he requested these final words: "He's dead, enough said" Friends and family will be received at John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Monday, June 9, 2014, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Burial to follow at Bethel Park Cemetery. Immediately following, friends and family will be received at Phil's Residence in Finleyville, Pa.
