Obituary For Richard "Dick" Ford

December 9, 1931 - January 11, 2016 Ford, Richard "Dick" Age 84, on Monday, January 11, 2016, of Whitehall.

Beloved husband of Barbara (Rubino) and the late Mildred P. (Connor); father of Sherry (Joseph) Rapisaldi and the late Richard Ford; stepfather of Joseph Desiderio; grandfather of Conor and Ashley McCallister; great-grandfather of Riley; son of the late Melvin and Virginia (Mullinex) Ford; brother of the late Ruth L. (survived by John) Cherevka; also survived by sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews. Dick was a Korean War veteran and a Lieutenant in the Whitehall Police Department. He was a member of Police FOP Lodge 91 and The Borough and Township Police Association. Dick was owner of Accident Investigators, and was instrumental in the development of accident reconstruction and education. Dick's family would like to thank family, friends and neighbors for all of their help during his illness. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Rd., Brentwood 15227, Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. Funeral Prayer on Wednesday morning at 9:15. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Sylvester Church at 10:00 a.m. If desired, family suggests contributions to Prime Time Adult Day Care, 44 Highland Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15102 or Kindred at Home Hospice, 190 Bilmar Dr., Suite 200, Pittsburgh, PA 15205.

    My deepest sympathies to the Ford family. I am so very sorry for the loss of Richard. Revelation 21:4 tells us of God: "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.â??

    We want to give are deepest sympathy to Sherry and Barbara and all in the Ford family. I will always remember Dick as a great guy, with a smile on his face, always willing to help anyone. Growing up as a kid in Pittsburgh Dick was a big part of our family. I still remember him dressing up as Santa for Christmas Eve and handing out presents. Even though it was 50 years ago I can still see him and my father drinking beers at the dining table. Dick would love to give my father a scare by pulling him over with the police car while we were driving down Brownsville road. My father would say â??I hope that itâ??s Dick behind meâ?? and there would be Dick getting out of the police car with a big smile on his face. I will always have fond memories of Dick and I know he will be missed by all. Rest in Peace my friend. Our Condolences: Richard Stokes and Family
