Age 71, of Pleasant Hills, PA and of Canfield, Ohio, died Thursday, December 2, 2021, in Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Pittsburgh. Richard was born on December 27, 1949, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Perry Humbert Hamilton and Virginia (Coulson) Hamilton. Rick is survived by his Wife, Barbara (Pagliari) Hamilton; Daughter, Krista (Hamilton) Steffey and her husband, Michael Steffey; Grandchildren, Michael Jr. and Cameron Steffey; Sister, Pamela (Hamilton) Pape and her husband, Ronald A. Pape; Sister-in-Law Jannene (Pagliari) Kustra and her husband John Kustra; Niece, Alicia Richelle Pape and Nephew, Alexander Hamilton Pape, as well as several cousins. Rick was a talented musician, having graduated from Duquesne University with a degree in Music Education. Rick was the youngest member ever to play in the Thomas Jefferson High School Band as a sixth grader. As a tenth grader, Rick was chosen to play trumpet in the Band of America sponsored by the State Department to tour Europe. He was the youngest member of that group which was comprised of mostly college students. After graduation from Duquesne University, he worked as the Band Director for some time at Yough High School in Sewickley Township. Rick, also being a talented graphic artist, was also employed for many years by Development Dimensions International, Inc. (DDI), an international and leadership development consultancy, headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA with over 1100 employees. During his employment at DDI, Rick led DDI’s imaging business and produced over 50,000 publications. Rick was named Employee of the Year twice during his tenure at DDI. Rick will be also remembered for his tireless enthusiasm for life, his thirst for knowledge and love of sports, particularly the Thomas Jefferson High School Sports Teams, and an amazing interest in a plethora of other hobbies. He will be deeply missed by friends and family. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 4201 Brownsville Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15227 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 where funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be held in the Monongahela Cemetery.
