May 29, 1945 - August 31, 2015

Baumgarten, Richard W.

Age 70, unexpectedly on Monday, August 31, 2015, of Brentwood.

Beloved husband of 49 years to Kathleen L. (Brethauer); loving father of Tammy Baumgarten, Beth (Lt Col John) Heidenreich and Jason Baumgarten; proud Pap of Patrick (Katie Emmerling) Gentile, SrA Matthew Gentile and Emily and Evan Heidenreich; son of the late Francis and Rosalia Baumgarten; brother of Frank (Lenora) and Ronald (Sandy) Baumgarten and the late Mary Ann (Jim) Breslin; brother-in-law of retired MSgt William (Mickey Ouellett) Brethauer; also survived by many nieces and nephews; also will be missed by his loving dog Snicker. Rich was a longtime employee of Packaging Corporation of America. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army. He also was involved with Brentwood Athletic Association and Brentwood Meals-on-Wheels for many years. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, Friday, September 4, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of funeral service at Noon. Interment will be held at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to Brentwood Meals-on- Wheels, 3725 Brownsville Road Pittsburgh, PA 15227.
