Obituary For Rita M. (Moreno) Montana

Age 79, of West Mifflin, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 22, 2024.

Mother of Anita (Michael) Doyle; grandmother of Angela (Patrick) Slappo and Maria (Brian) Baldrige; great- grandmother of Gianna and Vinnie Slappo; daughter of the late Edward and Alice Moreno; sister of Edward (Lavern) Moreno and Richard (Sarah) Moreno; survived by many nieces and nephews. Rita was preceded in death by her companion and best friend Jimmy Snyder.

Though modest about her skills, Rita was a talented crafter, often creating holiday décor, knitting blankets, or crocheting gifts for friends and family. When she wasn’t crafting, Rita could also be found canning various foods or baking delicious treats. She never visited anyone without bringing one of her delicious baked goods. When Rita was younger, her and her companion, Jimmy, enjoyed going to their campground every weekend, where they would fish, relax, and made lifelong friends. In her later years, Rita found the most joy in going on shopping trips with her girls. A quick trip to the outlets with her daughter and granddaughters was her favorite thing. Those that were close to Rita know that she had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone.

Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Sunday, February 25, 2024 from 4-8 p.m. where a blessing service will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held privately.
