Beloved husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, and gentle great-grandfather, passed away surrounded by love on Saturday, April 19, 2025. He was the cherished husband of Carol Meador, and a wonderful father to Brian (Susan), Michael (Yilka), and Amy (Aaron) Elsey. Bob’s love extended deeply to his grandchildren Jesse (Sarah), Tony (Maria), Yainthze (Alex), Emily, and Gabrielle, and to his great-grandson, little Luca. Bob served honorably in the United States Army Reserves for 23 years, retiring at the rank of Staff Sergeant. His dedication to his country was matched only by his enthusiasm for trains, which he collected and adored throughout his life. Whether watching reruns of MASH* or laughing at National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Bob appreciated life’s little joys-especially jellybeans. He spent his professional years in administration with the Baldwin-Whitehall School District and continued sharing his knowledge after retirement by teaching adult computer science classes at CCAC. A man of service, Bob also volunteered his time at the Baldwin Borough Public Library, always ready to help others. Bob was not just a human father but also the loving doggy daddy to Baby Fritz, his spirited Dachshund, and the proud kitty granddaddy to Candy Man, Amy and Aaron’s Tabby cat. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during his viewing at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, 4201 Brownsville Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15227, on Sunday, April 27, 2025 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral prayer on Monday, April 28, 2025 at 9:45 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in his honor in Blessed Trinity Parish, St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 3198 Schieck Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15227 at 10:30 a.m. If desired, family suggests contributions to Disabled Veterans, 1000 Liberty Avenue, # 1606, Pittsburgh, PA 15222. Bob’s legacy of kindness, humor, and warmth will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
